What Changes on the Menu Between September and October

Metro switches seasonal menus in the first week of October. Summer Seasonal closes Friday, October 2, Fall Seasonal opens Monday, October 5, and Oktoberfest stays open across both dates through October 30.

‍

As the person planning catering for your office's next event, which of those menus you can order from depends on your event date. This post goes through each of Metro's seasonal menus in date order: when it opens and closes, a few dishes worth ordering from it for an office event, and what to do if your date comes after October 5, before the new fall dishes appear on the portal. You'll know which menu matches your date and what to put on the order.

‍

1. Summer Seasonal Dishes Are Available Through Friday, October 2

If your event is on or before October 2, Metro's summer dishes are still on the order portal. Each summer entrée also comes as a package: the entrée plus two sides and a Garden Salad, priced per guest with an eight-guest minimum. Three dishes that work for an office lunch:

‍

  • Chicken Florentine, Crispy Artichokes, Spinach Cream Sauce, as a package at $27.95 per guest.
  • Garlic Butter Salmon, Sweet Chili Lime Sauce, as a package at $30.95 per guest, marked gluten-free on the portal.
  • Quinoa & Chickpeas, $7.95 per guest with a six-guest minimum. It's a vegan, gluten-free side of quinoa, chickpeas, spinach, and toasted pepitas in a lemon-tahini dressing.

‍

Pair one of the entrée packages with Quinoa & Chickpeas, and your vegan and gluten-free guests have a full side to build a plate around. For a mixed room, order both entrée packages so guests can choose between chicken and salmon.

‍

2. Oktoberfest Dishes Stay on the Menu Through October 30

Metro opened Oktoberfest for ordering on September 21, and you can order from it through October 30, on both sides of the seasonal switch. For an event in early October, it's a seasonal menu you can see in full today, with every dish and price already listed.

‍

Several Oktoberfest dishes suit an everyday office lunch as well as a themed event. Oktoberfest Stew is a shared pot for 12 guests at $159.95, made with German smoked sausage, cabbage, potatoes, and cannellini beans, with pumpernickel crostini on the side. Order one pot for every 12 guests on your headcount. Mini Apple Strudel Bites, $8.95 per guest with a six-guest minimum, add a vegetarian dessert of spiced apples, raisins, and cinnamon in flaky pastry.

‍

3. Fall Seasonal Opens Monday, October 5

Metro's Fall Seasonal dishes and prices go on the portal October 5. Until then, the new items aren't listed, so if your event falls on or after that date, you have two options:

‍

  • Build the order from Oktoberfest, where every dish and price is already on the portal.
  • Call Metro and ask what Fall Seasonal includes, so you can plan your menu around those dishes for your date.

‍

Summer Seasonal closes on a Friday and Fall Seasonal starts the following Monday, so the weekend of October 3 and 4 falls between them. For an event that weekend, Oktoberfest is the seasonal menu to order from. Metro lists its seasonal menus at the top of the order portal, where Summer Seasonal and Oktoberfest sit today, and that's where Fall Seasonal will appear on October 5.

‍

Summer Seasonal closes next Friday, October 2. Check your event date against the three menus above, then place your order at orders.metrocateringnyc.com or call Metro at (212) 268-2828.
